Ishka Mejia - Architect

"You see, I want a lot.
Perhaps I want everything
the darkness that comes with every infinite fall
and the shivering blaze of every step up."

- R.M. Rilke

As an architect, there are many, many things I think about and care about each waking moment in this life — not only with the projects that need me, but also the process by which they are made and how they can affect others. And in this world; a world that is constantly changing, a self that is constantly changing... continuously, what I have realized so far, as both an architect and a human being, is that the greatest power we all have really resides in our ability to make choices. Now that it seems there are infinite choices, and with them infinite possibilities, as well as the circumstances that come with those choices, making them slide in the spectrum of easy to 'god don't make me do this' difficult, there is the beautiful, yet excruciating gray area wherein the true layers of living are revealed, and so there 'a life' is defined.

When I began Seiri as a 19-year-old university student, it was more of both a shy and bold amalgamation of what I was interested in - art, literature, music - culture in general, which I felt was different from the rest. Now, it would just to be a setting for intimate ruminations and art; an entire issue is the artwork.

It wasn't really much, and it doesn't mean to be much now. It means to be enough and to be tender.

You may look through the old Seiri here.
